My Story

I was born in Athens, Greece, and I was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by the majestic ancient mountains that were the inspiration for so many epic stories of gods, monsters, and heroes. From an early age, I was taught the Greek principles of spirituality, contemplation, clean living, to live in the moment, and of the meditative and healing powers of the Aegean Sea. All of these experiences and lessons have had a profound impact on my life.

That said, by my late 20’s I became aware that I was living an unbalanced life. And then came yoga…

“Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.”

— Wayne Dyer

This life-changing practice introduced me to myself, as a whole, integrated being; and it was exhilarating! The process of learning to channel my breath while challenging my body physically brought me to a point of incredible focus. I was empowered and amazed by how this ancient practice was teaching me how to fully live harmonised in my 21st century body.

In 2010, I began my journey as a yoga teacher as I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that my calling in life was to help others on their paths to integrated living. Predisposed with a fascination for cultural philosophies and modern anatomy, I devoted my time to intense study, realizing early on that the path to wholeness was complex and holistic.

Through all of this study and introspection I was brought face-to-face with a demon that I had been denying for years; my own emotional trauma.

At first, I was blindsided. But I was armed with years of yoga and meditation, so I doubled down. I immersed myself in holistic healing modalities. I read books and attended workshops.

I completed training on somatic and energetic trauma release techniques. I poured over scientific studies on the effects of mindfulness. I studied psychology, spirituality, and world religions. And I sought out coaches, spiritual masters, and energy guides, determined to make myself whole again.

Little did I know then that the ENTIRE journey was preparing me for my life’s passion and my calling; to help people heal through integrated yoga therapy.

As my teachings evolved, so did my programs and offerings. And today, it is my passion and joy to support women on their own transformative journeys, out of emotional trauma and on to the radiant lives they were meant to live.

Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of working with some of the yoga universe’s most amazing and accomplished teachers. As a constant student of all things anatomical, spiritual, and therapeutic, I continue to be a constant student. It is my privilege to be a member of a movement that works toward teaching holistic and integrative approaches to health, wholeness, and equanimity.

Simply put, I am an admirer of bodies in motion, and healthy, flexible minds. To support others on their transformative journeys…well, that’s fuel for my soul.

What is Yoga Therapy

The literal translation of Yoga in Sanskrit means ‘union’. Yoga is a union of the body, mind, and spirit. The union of your physical body with the divine. Yoga is the thing that unites it all. Through breath, through asana practice, and through a way of living your life in a more peaceful way.

So it should come as no surprise that the ancient science of yoga has been practiced for centuries as a means of bringing and keeping the body in health and vitality. It’s a common misconception in the western world that yoga is just another form of exercise because it is so much more than that.

Many health experts now agree that yogic practices can be as if not more, effective in treating various states of dis-ease with many doctors prescribing yoga classes as part of a persons treatment

Enter yoga therapy.

But what is yoga therapy exactly?

Yoga Therapy is just like other yoga classes, but the emphasis of the class is much more specific. Whereas a standard yoga class may work towards a more general goal like opening the hip flexors,  Yoga therapy applications are specifically aimed at emotional, physical, and energetic healing.

Yoga is used to encourage healing for everything from anxiety and depression to auto-immune disease. Yoga is a very effective alternative or adjunct therapy that stimulates the body’s healing response and offers one a more complete level of healing, including physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual.

The union of yoga brings together all of the important elements you need to fully heal your trauma. It doesn’t just focus on one part as many therapies do.

For the purposes of healing emotional trauma, Yoga as a mental health therapy is effective as it integrates one’s various states of being in promoting healing. Channeling energy through presence and the breath, and bringing the traumatized brain back online through specific postures and techniques.

Therapeutic yoga classes can be tailored made for your specific emotional and/or physical trauma, working to bring your awareness to where and why these wounds have manifested. In a yoga therapy class, you are lead on an inward journey that stimulates deep healing and promotes inner peace.

What happens in a yoga therapy class?

We use traditional yoga postures to free the body of trapped energy, old beliefs, and habits. You will learn to access your own powerful energy, and use it to bring vitality back to the body and mind. This will help you to understand how your brain and mind store and process your emotional trauma throughout the body; physically, emotionally, and energetically. Through regular practice you will learn the tools to dislodge stuck memories and energy, effectively bringing the brain back “online”, and returning you to a state of wholeness.
